Men, women prefer dadbods than six-pack abs, study reveals!

Men, do you envy the celebs who sport a chiseled look and have those six-pack abs? Have you signed up for a gym membership just to get those abs and woo your date? Think again! You might be very wrong.
While men may be obsessed about getting a six-pack look (or even eight!), according to a new study, what women really admire is a guy with a ‘dadbod’ and not six-pack abs. If you don’t know already, a dadbod is a healthier version of a sculpted body. Basically, a man who sports a dadbod isn’t overweight but doesn’t have defined abs either.

Dadbods are now in trend and celebrated to promote a healthy, body-positive movement in males and to make them feel more comfortable and at ease with their bodies.
The survey

Online research was conducted by a fitness magazine which revealed that 4 out of 5 women loved the dadbod and saw this look of someone who is very confident in his own skin, thereby making them feel more attracted towards them. More than sixty percent of the women in the study said that less toned male physique was a lot more appealing to them. Add to that, almost half of the women in the survey even said that the dadbod was the new equivalent of six-pack abs. This study also involved a lot of women who were mothers as well, who were very happy about being with a partner sporting a dadbod.

According to the researchers who conducted the survey, the study aimed to highlight men’s concerns about how they looked while working out and show them the actual results. Speaking about the same, the researchers said the results pointed towards a more diverse and body-positive movement, which can encourage people to feel comfortable in their skin.

“Our survey results show the majority of people think positively about dad bods, and men who identify as having them are proud of who they are. Men who say their ‘dadbod’ has improved their life this year claim their body type has helped them accept themselves (48 percent) or made them less concerned with their appearance (47 percent).”
